    I have seen it a hundred time. If the market is unsure about the value of a takeover it marks the share price down. When the takeover is complete the price begins to rise. Apart from removing the uncertainty the completion of a takeover allows the market to think about the improved profitability that flows from rationalisation of overhaed costs etc.
