all face cover should be banned from parliament house.
the issue is NOT cultural sensitivity
the issue is security.
Security requires that persons can be identified when they represent a threats.
Security requires that persons who have been identified as a threat or has been disruptive will not be allowed a return visit.
Security requires that persons be distinguishable so offenders can be identified.
What happens if 10 women wearing identical clothing and face coverings attend parliament at the same time and one is disruptive.
How can the disruptive person be identified?
It presents an impossible dilemma for security and justice....throw the lot out?
The solution is easy.
If you want to enter places of sensitivity like parliament house you must be identifiable for security reasons.
Anything that prevents facial identification must be removed.
In a secular state we can make these sensible decisions and as long as the same rule applies to everyone.
It maybe that some women wish to wear full facial cover and that is fine, but security must take priority in some instances.
Future problematic situations need to be anticipated.
The idea of putting them behind glass walls is demeaning and discriminatory.
One rule for all.
