There seems to be several trains of thought running here.
I can't see any way that the shares won't come back on at a price well above $2.Then there will be some market support from instos including the broker/bank doing the placement.. Then there will be shorters covering , particularly those that can't participate in the placement. Then there will be a number of sellers that pull out and hold for the longer term.
So during the period that we will have to consider whether or not to participate , we will likely see continued support and a price above $2.50.If so, then there won't be an issue price below below $2.
This is all speculation , but the shares are already tightly held.
Confused, you asked why else would they participate in the placement if it weren't to get in at an attractive price. The answer is that it allows them to acquire a sizeable amount at a fixed price without driving up the market.
