2007-07-04 In or out of the new government: A tough choice for FRODEBU
President Pierre Nkurunziza had given 48 hours to the Frodebu party to provide him with a list of five canditates for the 5 ministerial positions that it's entitled to in accordance to the 2005 elections. According to reliable sources, Frodebu has asked Mr. Nkurunziza an extra 24hours to decide.Frodebu finds itself in very tough position to make a choice. If it joins the new government, its spot as an opposition will be weakened by the fact that it has to follow the CNDD-FDD platform and it might become difficult to critisize a government that itself is part of. Frodebu might also be held accountable by its members along with CNDD-FDD for any wrong doing by the new by government, hence losing credibility of its members.
