I can't help but wonder why in the most bushfire prone country...

I can't help but wonder why in the most bushfire prone country in the world, we don't seem to get much of a response from the defence forces when we have fires out of control throughout the country!
Why aren't the ADF's equiped and trained in bush fire water bombing?
We have the aircraft, we have the crews! I'm sure there would be plenty of volunteers who would jump at the chance to gain the experience and air time to put their training to good use.
Why do we rely on civilian aircraft and crews?
