I agree King. once pollies start making policy based on potential votes, and listening to the radical lefties who dont want burning (or harvesting), thats when all the problems start. Issue is that there are so many greens in the metro areas with definite (but wrong) ideas, and vote accordingly, what chance do the greatly outnumbered country have. Almost none.

Like the ban on logging, the skilled forest firefighters live in country towns, but when their work dries up, who is going to fight the fires? And when huge fires occur, and thousands of large trees are killed, what is going to happen to them? No sawmills to cut them up to be used. No, they will stand and rot until they rot or burn over, and in the meantime be major safety threat to anyone in the bush, any a huge problem during subsequent fires with their dead crowns. The greens, pollies, lefty academics and unions have us by the short and curlies. We will import our timber from overseas.

And when the forests are destroyed in fires and a few more thousand koalas and other fauna die, they will blame it on global warming or someone else.
