Hiya guys,
As GSK is front of mind in the OBJ stakes, I think you guys will be interested in this podcast.
Peter Day from the BBC is looking at how the drug industry tackles R&D and looks at how Andrew Witty ,the new CEO of GSK has made big changes in their approach to finding "block busters" and not.
Essentially, it appears that he has set up Discovery Performance Units which consist of teams of 50 or 60 people of all the different professional disciplines that look at a potential application from all angles in "real time" within a 3 year make or break period.
There is a little bit of history as he has previously interviewed the last two ceos and it touches on the recent issues with the diabetes drug but in essence it is about Mr Witty's approach to developing new drugs which I feel is very pertinent to OBJ.
From memory about 20 to 30 minutes
