By the way I meant to say that the failures that occurred with the wedging system had not caused catastrophic failure of the weapon but more along the lines of it causing the weapon not to fire because the firing position of the rounds was compromised because the remaining rounds in the weapon had been pushed too far to the rear causing loss of contact with the electronic firing, this cannot happen with these later rounds with the modified tail, because there is a solid central column inside the tail that allows a slight movement of the rounds to aid sealing but they can travel no further becuase of this central coulmn, another advantage of the newer rounds is that they can be clipped together, and that aids with reloading, especially in things like the 3GL, Firestrom Redback, axially fed machine gun, etc.
