I'm unsure if HotCopper is the place for this however anyone's time is greatly appreciated. A friend and I are commencing our first joint venture since finishing uni. We have day jobs, it is an online retail format and we are located in SA.
I have been recommended a PTY LTD company structure within a Unit Trust. However, google isnt providing much information on this combination and we arent ready to see an accountant at this point in time.
Few questions:
1) Is the unit trust necessary and/or beneficial if we are already planning a company structure? 2) It doesnt seem like the tax implications of a company in a trust are any more beneficial than being in a Company on it owns? (as there is only 2 of us involved) 3) Can a company be put under a trust in future?
Any further sources/ recommendations to the above, it would be highly appreciated.
