The Federal & State governments should not be bringing back any form of SME business payments, or JobKeeper-esque payments or the like.
Business owners have had their fill last year with the 1st / 2nd / 3rd rounds of JobKeeper. The majority of business owners across Australia rorted the JobKeeper program last year by applying for this welfare on very loose grounds, and crucially, when they did NOT need it. It was actually disgusting to see how many businesses received JobKeeper last year.
I wonder how many business owners prudently squirreled away their original JobKeeper payments for a time like this when they actually need to drawn down on those funds. Most didn't. They all went out and bought new cars and new houses, and treated JobKeeper like a lotto win.
Yet so many of them are now screaming for it again because they went and pissed it all up against the wall last year. Any smart business owner would have retained the cash in a separate bank account, not touched it, waited until the entire pandemic was over (in say 3 years), and then returned it back to the taxpayers if they didn't genuinely require it. Alas, the majority of people are halfwits, therefore foolish of me to think they'd do something as sensible of this.
Now it's time to let these business owners stand on their own two feet. That is simply part of the risk of owning a business. They must take the downside along with the upside. Otherwise go become a PAYG.
These businesses have been helped out enough over the past 12 months with ungodly amounts of stimulus being thrown around. The economy has now indeed been over-stimulated. As a result, the economy around the country is white hot, and is much stronger than before Covid happened. If Sydney & Vic now goes backwards due to these lockdowns, this will probably just bring it back into line with how things were if Covid never even occurred - thus no one should be complaining.
