It's certainly true that news regarding the retail sector is all bad. There's no doubt household finances are in general very stretched now. People have little to no disposable income. Retail sales are very much below trend right now.
I'm willing to bet that the current situation won't persist forever. Wage growth will return at some stage, mortgage stress will alleviate, and disposable income will rise again. I could be wrong and we're in a new reality of low wage growth, but if one waits until they see a recovery before buying MYR however, chances are the shares won't be cheap anymore.
