So, if we shop local ---------------- we pay about 3 to 5 times more for 'stuff' but, what are the benefits to us ----------- well, not much the local shop keeper benefits - because HE buys the cheap stuff from China - marks it up a few hundred percent - then, he's got some money we get a benefit from the local shopkeeper having that money to put back into our eonomy so - since whichever way we go ------- we buy the same cheap stuff from china how about ------- pay the shopkeeper to NOT go into business - make all sales on line that way - we get cheap stuff from China AND the shopkeeper has money - which he can put back into the economy directly win win

Agree. 'Shop local', 'boycott the big chains' etc. Seems like admirable sentiment. And then the reality - get gouged with high prices and poor quality.
