Anecdotally, I recollect a West African miner or exploreco, listed on the TSX or TSX-V, that had/has a huge deposit at a decent grade. It was bought, and the Au was there, but to get it out of the rock, though possible, was quite UNeconomical -- rookie error by the buyer's CEO, probably too much "lifestyle" in his ego or nose... He, like many CEOs from ~6 to ~8 years are all long gone... Good, The metallurgy was the fly.

PS I also recollect one metric where the metallurgy problem MAY show up: the EV. Too low and further digging (I love a pun) must be done by the speculator, starting with recovery rate.
PPS I noticed in your brief disclosure that we both own LOL. I also have a stake in its sister stock: HAHA. I highly recommend that both be in every speculators' portfolio!
