Two points to consider about the effects of the weight loss medication trial. A reduction in apnoea episodes does not necessarily translate into not needing a cpap machine. Also a short term benefit does not necessarily translate into a long term benefit. For example a significant number of people having bariatric surgery for weight loss that initially lose large amounts of weight put it back on as the years go by. This is a good result for weight loss medication but the impact on RMD is not necessarily substantial.
