    IMO our biggest future threat is ICBM attacks and the Nuke propelled Subswill be worth bugger all as a defensive shield.

    Really? Hidden nuclear powered subs armed with ballistic missles are a genuine deterrent against attacks by ICBMs. Firing a missle at Australia guarantees a response in kind, thanks to nuclear subs lurking off the Chinese mainland.

    Also, our biggest future threat is not ICBM attack but rather us not adopting the most effective military hardware available, including nuclear weapons, in the face of China's relentless provocation.

    They have effectively declared war on us precisely because we lack a sizable military and modern weapons of defence. This is why they reacted so strongly to the AUKUS pact, a good first start, which will now make them think twice before attacking us.
