I will hazard an assumption here based on their stocking of phone inventory.
Specifically less popular Android models (eg google pixel)

These were kept on hand initially, but are now available by special order only.

Leading me to believe that the stock on hand is likely fully paid inventory.

Also, the initial jb hifi stocks were purchased outright.

No doubt at a considerable discount to a consignment type arrangement.
