Ok here is an example of how it works using the current depth after close, based on if someone was selling in the auction at 2.6 and you were top of the line at 2.6 and someone else was using this method to jump in front of you.
They basically leave you one share so the price they get theirs for is lower, if you get one share at 2.6 they get theirs at 2.6 too. Even though they lined up at 2.7 in this example below...
