I understand, APT just registered a trademark in Thailand . Which means nothing it is just a standard, global, legal dragnet, untill there is an announcement. I think the value of the thailand addressable market and SEA is overlooked. Consider the working age Thai people, earning $16 AUD per day. and their rate of wages growth. All of this is 'sub scale' for a bank due to the cost of labour and shop fronts. The massive value I see in APT is the data base. we are within striking distance of having 10 years of consumer behaviour data on our longest standing clients. as they move from buying shoes, to fancy dresses, to baby items to cars to houses. It is much easier to bolt a bank on the back of APT than to replicate APT at the front of a bank. Simply follow the client up along the value trail. Adjust the brand and products to meet the clients new needs. The client experience is that 'APT always met my needs' do that 3-4 times and a row and the client becomes an APT fan for life.

For comparison look at the product life cycle of the Mitsubishi gallant. it morphed from "cheapest in class" to "best in class" as those purchasers who bought a 2nd hand gallant at uni became young turks to state managers of XYZ pty ltd

Say Thai's earn 8% of what we earn. but there is 3 X as many of them in the relevant age bracket. that infers Thailand alone is equal to 24% of the Australian market. 1st JAN 2020 Thai factory worker award wages becomes 320 baht per day say $16 AUD

Agree. I've managed trademarks for a global company and there were many marks that nobody was planning to really use, they just don't want copy cats starting up. So I seriously doubt Thailand is the first place you'd enter Asia ... Malaysia or Singapore would be first. Something that has a stable system.
