It would take a more detailed conversation, but the jurisdictions who applied restrictions in the most targeted way towards the people who are actually at risk from COVID, ended up doing the best. These jurisdictions (for the most part) did not do tyrannical lockdowns.

Sweden is one that mostly avoided lockdowns. I did a quick count just now and there are roughly 25 European countries with high total deaths and also higher deaths per capita than Sweden. Some of these countries include Italy and Spain who also tried to do tyrannical lock downs and ended up doing worst than most European countries. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

Florida is another good example of a place that mostly avoided lockdowns but did far better than other populous American states who implemented the toughest of lockdowns.

New York, New Jersey and Massachussetts had the toughest of restrictions but also had the worst result in terms of deaths per capita.

Finally, I'm not surprised you have such an inverted view of reality given you seem to be holding up SCG as some paragon of financial and investment virtue. You should already know but there is a gap all the way down to the low $2.40's, it would seem likely that gap is on the way to closing.
