I would have thought that BAU's best interests are to buy back at the lowest possible prices so as to purchase and reduce the maximum number of shares on issue.
To this end I would expect them to provide a floor and see what shares are sold into it, over time lift this floor progressively and purchase more shares.
It would be extremely bad management to chase the sellers/traders, buy too few shares and then the price drops back after the buyout has been completed with the main winners being the short term traders.
IMO they should buy as many shares as they can for the lowest price possible while providing a base for the share price.
