AKA, the reason that company's announce what their buy price for buybacks the day after the purchases is because it doesnt gives the traders and the shorters the heads up. Your telling the traders and the shorters what CDU can buy back at. On he other hand the shorters dont have to divulge how many they are short until the next days after 3pm. I know some of them can work it out, but I dont think its helpful telling the world what CDU can pay for the day during the trading day. Its a bit like CDU can tell you what they can pay, but the shorters dont.
It is obvious the shorters got caught yesterday with the 77,000 coming on to buy at 3.30 when the stock was 3.28. I think the strategy of CDU buyback has been compromised a bit and I dont think they would be too happy. A bit like shooting yourself in the foot. Let them work it out themselves. Half of them probably cant count and the other half are too lazy to work it out.
