As I said earlier: All buybacks should come from retained earnings and never be allowed from funded equity IMO.
Also I think ASIC should approve all buybacks and be content with the buyback being funded from retained equity.
Buybacks should be under the implication that a company has a surplus and therefore should not be allowed capital raisings for a certain period - maybe 12 to 24 months?
Just my thoughts on buybacks.
