it may not have been overkill.
the reason for a trading halt is not for extra suspense, it is to stop people trading the stock that may have had inside information prior to the public release.
ie. this placement will likely dilute the SP a little, so you TH to stop people in the know cashing in thier chips for 11.5 or 12 or whatever the price was, and then rebuying again for easy gains at 10/10.5 .
