SYDNEY, June 2 (Reuters) - The nickel market on Monday was holding on to last
week's sharp price gains after a strike shut down a big nickel mine in Canada over
the weekend.
At 2353 GMT benchmark three-month London Metal Exchange nickel (MNI3) was
quoted at US$8,900/$9,000 a tonne versus $8,890 late on Friday in London trading.
The strike idled Inco Ltd's (Toronto:N.TO - News) Sudbury, Ontario, operation on
Sunday as workers blocked access to the huge mining facilities that produce about
nine percent of the world's nickel.
