I've noticed that the SP surges periodically up to 10% for no apparent reason, often late in the week. This happened just recently when it went from 39 - 45 cents on no news only to drift back down again to present levels.

I used to think such surges might herald an announcement such as settlement of the Applera court case or fresh licence revenue; now I just think it's daytraders seeing how far they can push a thinly-traded stock.

Having said that, no doubt this will be the occasion when I'm proven wrong!
