Agreed on the small margins to dealers on new cars they are minis for salesman many times not worth the effort unless a slow Monday , just good for the service dept to make money on , I use to sell Pickups and trucks in the USA , preferred selling used though as there was more gross , what boat boy states is correct , expecting a 12% discount on a new vehicle is unlikely to happen for most models , Mitsubishi are priced low already so no margin better off getting a deal on accessories like tow bar and free mats , Kia's I have bought new as run outs with 15% off the MSRP though.
I do tend to buy new (because I can and like the long warranties on Kia's ) but as commented by others on here a loaded vehicle , less than 2 years old and less than 50k kms is probably the best way to go financially .
Personally prefer the 4008 Peugeot equivalent of the ASX same mechanicals (but no diesel option ) but better interior fit and finish there is a run out on them at the moment (may have finished ) .
