Thank you Albright as well as everyone else who posted well considered replies. I sincerely appreciate every answer to my question as it helped me avoid losing money. After heeding good advice I kept my finger off the commsec "buy" button. I'm going to apply the strategy to buy blue chip shares 6 to 8 weeks before the ex date.possibly even on announcement date if its good news and I'm not chasing the dividend. Any stock suggestions are welcome.
