What if the ETF's are shown not have the physical bullion backing the paper, maybe it doesn't matter, I dunno.
Alot of these discussion are too black and white. It's not as if you have 100% of your equity in bullion or 100% in ETF's or 100% in shares. There's merit for each and nobody knows their ears from the a_holes when it comes to any of this stuff despite the capability to talk the leg off a chair about it.
I certainly don't think (at times) it's any easier to sell paper based assets than physical bullion especially if you rely on an internet connection. Every time there is market turmoil it would be quicker for me to catch a bus to the city and dump my gold bullion on a desk and receive funds for it than to execute an order via Commsec.
