show on ch 9, gem now Selling houses abroad 7.30 pm- 8.30pm they are discussing Spain, I dont know what year they are talking about...but 800,000 brits have been buying properties abroad in the past 2 years
tonights focus....people have bought huge blocks of land, for the house, with garden, and pool etc but Spain has a policy, where a developer can walk in and take your land off you, no compensation, and nothing you can do about it...tonights couple have built their house, but now there is a road going past the front door, the developer is taking 75% of their land off them...
another problem, a whole lot of brits bought 1200 houses in a settlement, the local Mayor says they were built illegally on land, so he has ordered them all to be demolished, again no compensation for the owners
geez, and some of you wonder why these countries have problems with the housing market... and you give us warnings that market will come to us...
luckily we have slightly more honest laws here, so that cannot happen here, or if it did, there would be compensation
