If the world were to go into a deflationary spiral similar to Japan's "lost decade" then gold price would skyrocket. However, I take this kind of information with a grain of salt since there are always economists with all kinds of opinions out there.
If you invest in gold and you look hard enough you'll find 10 more people like David Stockman who are of the opinion the world economy will collapse.
If you invest in Bitcoin you can dig around and find a bunch of prominent people who say it'll be the next world currency (Something I strongly disagree with).
I say this with the utmost respect for David Stockman and people like yourselves who follow his view and I'm by no means saying the deflationary spiral won't happen.
