I think the government should buy the management rights to the timber projects that have to be abandoned by GTP and TIM. They were the ones spruiking the concept in the first place with their deductions. They then failed to put in place legislation to limit the fees charged. Then finally, they put the schemes in peril with their changes to tax law.
The government can easily afford the cost and will reap a reward from the investment in the long run.
I also think that in cases where there is no buyer, the growers should be putting this idea forward very forcefully to the government.
