Look, im not dismissing anything. Use whatever tools you want, each to their own, i dont really care to be honest. I just think that some posters on HC focus way too much on "Technical" analysis in the hope of a quick buck as opposed to analysis on the company their buying or shorting. How can you buy or short a company based on a pattern or resistance or support or whatever you think you recognise? Do you honestly think you know something that others dont based on drawing lines on a chart? Give me break, you want throw your money away on pretty patterns be my guest, its just that I wont, just presents buying (or selling in some cases) opportunities for the rest of us. If you think that out of the thousands of investors and with your subjective knowledge of charting that you've discovered a magic formula then I am all ears. But its safe to say you havent, its like gamblers who claim they have a failsafe theory on how to win at roulette. Its just pathetic. Investing is not gambling, Its just that many new starters who come to me think that it is and they are the first to buy the latest "Trading with charts" book or spend thousands on some course that analyses price action. Why not spend your time analysing the company? Be the casino not the gambler. Too hard? Its all public information and its not rocket science and its produced some of the most successful investors that i know, who are all ordinary people. Does BHP represent good value at moment? I think so, and when the price drops 2% or so tomorrow I will be buying, lots. Im fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others fearful. Has not failed me yet. Come back in 3 years and if BHP is not more than $40 then you can gloat all you want. Maybe one of the posters on here are right, I dont understand charting, its way too subjective, and if I dont understand it I sure as hell am not putting my money into it. But hey, do whatever analysis you want, I just hope newbies dont get sucked into it.
