ALMOST a year after leading advertising agency Belgiovane Williams Mackay lost one of its biggest clients, the company claims it is reinvigorated.
In a week when BWM's parent company, Photon Group, revealed the agency had a 38.8 per cent fall in earnings, it was eager to trumpet its new clients and recent Melbourne expansion.
"I think the whole scenario we have been through is quite encouraging," said Rob Belgiovane, a founding partner and the executive creative director of BWM.
"Everybody pulled together with a strong commitment to reinvigorating the BWM brand, and it's great to see some really good clients and great new staff coming on board."
Last May, BWM lost one of its largest clients, Telstra BigPond. This was an account with an estimated value of about $10 million to $15m, and the loss hit the agency's financial results and forced it to lay off eight staff.
"Losing any account is not great, but what you're looking for is a quick way to grow the business and keep your great staff, which we've done," Mr Belgiovane said.
This year, BWM has been assigned the Amcal Pharmacy and Tabcorp accounts and has increased the number of staff in its Melbourne operation to more than 30.
