- the deficit handed to the Howard/Costello Governmentl;
- the SE Asian Financial Crisis;
- the military intervention in East Timor;
- the build up in military expenditure as a consequence of 9/11;
- higher security costs,as a consequence of 9/11 and the Bali massacre;
- the need to satisfy the whims of the over paid and underworked Ansett employees;
- the urgent need to amend the PAYE tax system to compensate the ordinary taxpayer for its corruption through the process of inflation.
By comparsion, this fiscally illiterate ALP has had an armchair ride riding on the coat tails of a generous Federal Government Surplus, bequeathed to it by the previous Liberal Government. Let's hope the Aussie electorate has the IQ to kick them out of office down the cellar designed for fiscal dimwits for, at least, the next decade.
