BYD doing well is bad for APE, isn't it? BYD as far as I know is going down the path of owning its own car dealerships. I've found one article from 2022 saying they're borrowing APE's showrooms to display their cars, then a bunch of articles from 2024 about BYD opening multiple showrooms and planning on a massive expansion of 70 to 100 new stores in Australia this year alone.
It sure doesn't sound like they're still using Eager showrooms anymore. So, they're a competitor to Eager dealerships.
For what it's worth, I agree with Elon Musk's assessment - Chinese car brands, like BYD, will utterly devastate all other car makers over time due to their low manufacturing costs, low selling price, and improving quality. I'd look at buying the dip in APE if they have beneficial exposure to BYD's rise, but from brief research it looks like BYD's rise will actually take away sales and profit from APE.
