Need to remember though that Olympic Dam is the worlds largest multi-mineral deposit, it ALSO has:
Copper = 67.3 million tonnes Gold = 79 million ounces Silver = 25 million ounces … and of course: Uranium = 2.2 million tonnes.
The uranium would not be economical on its own in an underground operation ... not at those grades. And neither would BMN… Cigar lake has grades over 100 times higher than BMN over (25% grades as apposed to BMN with 0.0219%) - That’s why they can go hundreds of meters underground.
The original Olympic Dam deposit was nearly seven kilometre long, four kilometres wide and one kilometre deep. It only STARTED at 350m, and went down to 1000m … Now they say the ore body is economical down to 2.5klm deep!!!
Interesting fact:
O.D. contains nearly 200 kilometers of underground roads!!!
Certainly it will be interesting to see just how deep the Anom A deposit goes … the grades are very high down deep (for alaskites) ... so we are in a very exciting phase.
Management know what is down there it seems ... and they like it!!
