From some correspondence between me and Chris Towsey in Feb 2009 expaining why they have shelved the Conveyor Technology for the time being - seems fair enough ... whatever is economical needs to be the way to go:

"The underground conveyor technology was proposed as part of the long-term mining plan we put out in 2002. It is intended to use conveyors in the main operation underneath Charters Towers city. It is not an economic proposition to install conveyors at Warrior at present , and is unlikely to become economic in the next 2 or 3 years. Diesel haulage is still more cost-effective at present."
