The underground ore sorter technology is not used by any gold mining company in the world as it not proven to in fact be able to sort the gold ore from barren rock (including barren quartz). How does it differentiate between pyrite and actual gold bearing ore in the sorter because it will look similar. If this technology was cost effective why are not any other large mining companies using it that have huge budgets for R&D?????. E-Tag technology has been around for many years and it used regularly in many, many mines.

As for a 'first' taking computer PC equipment underground. The surveyors etc currently utilise data loggers for underground surveying data, storage and analysis. What, do the staff sit in the middle of the decline with the leprechauns analysing on their laptops how to find the mother lode! Sorry, could not help myself there
