And what if your original investment entirely came from profits on another stock? This free carrying by considering each stock in isolation is nonsense in my opinion. Everybody's circumstances are different. We may both have invested $100k at the same price. Yours may have come from life savings. Mine from last week's profits elsewhere. So advice is pointless I suppose.
