I thought I'd post the Minnesita Living With Heart Failure test on the site. The patient mentioned who went on to have a heart transplant who's aorta they were testing went from 77 to 13.

On QOL questionnaires usually there will be a 0 to 5 response with 5 being severe or worst, 0 being nothing and the other numbers being inbetween. The MLWHF test looks to be 21 questions, so a total score of of 105 is possible.

That would suggest that this patient was on average scoring 3's to 4's. 3's and 4's generally suggest a patient will be moderately to severely crippled when performing a task or have moderate to severe symptoms. The patient wont be 100% crippled by the activity or the mobidity discussed in any question.

The minimum detectable level of change seems to be 5 with an error of 6-7, suggesting that a change of 11-12 on this test will usually be considered not to chance or the day to day variation of the patient, but to an improvement of condition.

The C-Pulse caused this patient to have a SIXTY FOUR point reduction in score. She's gone from severe limitations on most questions of the test to having between NO LIMITATION and mild limitation per question.

As a physio I use these tests all the time, most large musculoskeletal surgeries (knee replacement etc.) I see wouldnt cause an improvement on an equivalent scale in anywhere near the time (or ever).

I've seen ALOT of knee replacements and very very few would get an improvement of this magnitude. If a patient was, on average scoring 3's to 4's on a knee QOL test equivalent and I had them averaging 2's after surgery and rehab, I would be over the moon at my successful outcome with that patient.

    Anyway here's the test
