I was speaking to a mate in the air-con industry and this scenario was brought up:
A low income earner requires their split system air conditioner unit to be re-regased. Before the carbon tax it would have cost $350-400 plus labour costs. It now costs $1600 plus labour or about the cost of a new unit.
Bang, there goes the $10 per week compensation X 2 in one hit.
Just one example of the unintended consequences that will eventuate from this carbon tax. They will soon begin to stack up.
