10 years he reckons? I'd think one of the viable, more economic alternatives to lithium batteries will have taken over within 5. 10 is a ridiculous claim to make. CATL’s first-generation sodium-ion battery will likely be commercialised in 2023.
Sodium-ion batteries offer better performance and can operate at a wider temperature range. They work much more efficiently in cold environments, compared to lithium-ion batteries. Another advantage of sodium-ion batteries over lithium-ion batteries is they are non flammable and there is no thermal runaway. A tonne of sodium costs $150
Well done to those who've made a handsome profit, but don't be fooled into thinking lithium is going to be king in 10 years time.
