If uber fare was the same as taxi, I think uber has a slight edge due to their rating system, if uber drivers want to keep their jobs they would need to preform and provide a good service. Although taxis has the clear advantage during uber surcharge times.
I feel that uber is just the current trend right now, like you see these "youtube celebrities" pulling out their phones booking ubers etc etc. Taxi still has it place though, instead of pulling out my phone I will just hail down a cab when it's convenient for me to. Also, there's still big taxi lineups during the weekends for the party goers.
