The deal signed with Cabela's to sell ZOLEO is more exciting than the announcement makes it sound. I didn't know who they are as I have not heard of the name before but I Googled it and spoke to my Canadian friend.
It turns out they are huge. Something like Best Buy for outdoor and way bigger than BCF/Macpac.
Cabela's used to be listed on the NYSE and was acquired by privately owned BPS Direct, LLC (Bass Pro Shops) in 2017 for US$4 billion. The group has over 40,000 employees with an annual turnover of around US$8 billion.
This looks very promising for ZOLEO and I have to guess that Roadpost ( Beam's partner ) will be trying to get the BPS to stock the device in all their shops in the US as well. I don't see BPS just keeping this to the Canadian market.
It's hard to imagine that ZOLEO can be a big success over in NA and not have traction here. We Aussies are as big on the outdoors as the Americans! I say watch this space!
