Mate, there was a leak. The probability of these events occuring in succession within a day of each other in the same month, is highly improbable.

Look at it this way.

Its hard to calculate using theorectical probability. But this gives a bit of an idea that rules out simple coincidence
Lets say you have 31 marbles in a bag. The marbles represent each of the days in the month of October. 31 marbles. Numbered 1 to 31.

What are the chances of you selecting a marble with the 27th and then the 28th.

These are dependent events, so the equation is 1/31 multiplied by 1/30 that is a 1 in 930 chance of the event occuring.

OK I know that this is not exact, however, it is impossible to conclude anything else. Mathematically extremely unlikely this was a coincidence.
