Taking emotion out of this and looking at Cairn SP rise one can calculate the theoretical impact to FAR price.

Eg currently ( at 8pm AEST)Cairn is up 15 pence to about 195 pence at this price that means the market capital has increased about 172. Million AUD for 40% of the field

Hence far 15% is worth about 65 Million AUD ( based on the Cairn price increase)

using 2.7 Billion shares means 65 Million divided by 2.7 Billion is about 2.5 cents per share increase in value.

If cairn close up 30 p then the price increase is about 5 cents per share.

Note there are other factors that will influence the price change.

Speculation, Stock free float, price increase prior to news( expectation)

Unfortunately / fortunately these will impact the price to a greater degree than with Cairn but in no emotional terms 2.5 cents is what Cairn share price is telling the market in UK.

Note this doesn't mean this is it either as more info comes out that clarifies the situation it in likely will be reflected in the SP over time. I only have a small holding hence for the right price topping up maybe the most sensible action. Based on what Cairn has done thus far it means a price below 12.5 cents. if cairn close at 2.11 then it will be 15 cents.

None the less it is good news for all that hold and hopefully a step forward in a direction that doesn't change soon.
