KP Skypilot was using the US Gal which is ok because he was quoting California so that is correct.
Liters in the US is also spelled differently as in Liters (US) and in the (Litres) in the UK.
Australia however does not use the US Gal we use litres and the UK Imperial Gallon which is 1 gallon = 4.456litres.
Currently in my area ULP 91 is 145 cents per litre (AUD).
    1 Litre = 145c aud.
    1 Gallon = 4.456 litres x 145c aud = $6.46 aud per gallon.

California may be paying a very high price for a while but Australia has been paying far above what we should be for a long time and probably for the foreseeable future. Our price per gallon now is $6.46 per gallon and that is with oil at $ around 60 a barrel what will we pay if the price goes back up to something like $100 a barrel?
California is paying their very high prices because the energy company is bankrupt and is being forcibly liquidated.
There would be a lot of shale oil companies should have gone belly up if not for the US FED feeding money into them.
