I have a feeling that the high number of short positions has more to do with the situation over at Quintis than any recent news related to Select.
Quintis has been in suspension since the middle of May, and because the short sellers can't target that, they have moved on to other stocks which appear to be similar.
Select Harvests also grows trees, they have had a recent crop downgrade and the share price is near 12 month lows, so why not target it too?.
It is pretty trite. While I generally think it is wise to keep an eye on short seller activity, in this instance I suspect the short sellers will soon be headed home with heads hung low and wooden spoons in pocket.
