"buying a spec stock is like buying a piece of land."

Comment:
A very incorrect analogy imo.

1. An owner of a piece of land has control over that piece of land. The usual investor in a spec stock does not have control of that spec stock.

2. A piece of land doesn't go broke and get put into administration like plenty of spec stocks have done in the past.

3. An owner of a piece of land doesn't get diluted and instead of owning 100% of that piece of land only own say 20%. Owners of spec stocks can be significantly diluted and instead of owning X percentage of a company find they end up owning significantly less.
