Those against it here are most likely not going to be compensated. Just because they earn more than some doesn't mean they have spare cash. Bigger houses mean bigger mortgages, bigger insurances, etc, etc. What are they to do? Downgrade and take the property market down with so many downgrading? Many couples have to both work to support their families and there really isn't money for jam and certainly not enough for the government to take more of their hard earned wages.

Ms Gillard seems oblivious of the daily budgeting to make ends meet in family life. There is enormous peer pressures on kids these days and they in turn pressure their parents to provide them with mobile phones and all sorts of other things so they are not teased for not having them. Does Ms Gillard have any idea how much she will hurt the "working families" to whom she seemingly promised so much only a few months ago?
